Peak Studio: Year 8, Session 1, Week 2

This week, the Peak learners set out on their first trip together: four days in Fort Davis, Texas!

The adventure began with a seven-hour drive, and learners were ready for it. They had created their own road trip activity book, the "Bored Book," full of games and challenges to keep the miles fun and the group connected.

Once they arrived, learners took on new challenges and had a lot of fun doing it. They rode horses, hiked, explored the desert landscape, cooked together, and gathered around the campfire in the evenings. Each new experience asked for a lot of courage, and learners showed up for it and for each other.

Some of the most memorable moments came under the stars. At a star party at McDonald Observatory, learners looked up at a sky far darker and bigger than the one back home. It was a perfect setting to slow down, wonder, and start contemplating the questions they will explore all year: Who am I? Who am I becoming? Time for solo journaling and reflection gave learners space to sit with those questions on their own and them with each other.

The trip landed with an important step. The Peak learners created a first draft of their year-long Peak Studio contract, shaped by the trust, teamwork, and connection they built along the way.

By the time they headed home, learners had done what any Hero does on a big journey: stepped into something new, faced challenges together, and possibly left with a clearer sense of who they are and who they are becoming.
