Parent Meeting 3: A Journey to the Future to forecast, the Past for wisdom, and back to a Mission-critical Present.

Two weeks ago, during our 3rd Parent Meeting of the year, our parents time traveled.

First to the future- imagining they themselves were a prepared 23 year old in 2036. Then to their own pasts to notice the wisdom they have to guide their children to an unknown future and to face the burdens they need to let of so their children can be free to live their own callings.

At the end, we all landed in grounding in our mission: to inspire each person who enters our doors to find a calling that will change the world.

  • What defines a calling?

  • Is a calling discovered or created?

  • How does a hero relate to the idea of changing the world?

  • What mindset is needed to stretch in the face of pressure, rather than shrink?

We dug deeper into these questions after the meeting and more and invited a parent to join us. We all had a lot to say about calling, pressure, and letting go.

Listen here for Samantha and Janita’s debrief:

And here for our reflection with Ascent parent, Harpreet:
