Growing Connections: A Season of Discovery in Spark
As Session 5 comes to a close, Sparks have been deeply engaged in exploring the natural world—growing not only their understanding of gardening, but also their connection to the broader community.
What began with learning about seeds and plants expanded into meaningful, hands-on experiences. Sparks joined Explore learners for a launch on vermicomposting, where they discovered how worms support healthy soil. This sparked their own experiments, inviting observation, questions, and testing ideas.
Connections across studios continued through time with Discovery learners as reading buddies, where relationships and communication grew alongside literacy. Sparks also participated in a Discoverer-led circle on the lifecycle of a butterfly, offering a meaningful opportunity to learn from an older peer and deepen their understanding of living systems.
Outdoor exploration became an essential part of the session. Whether walking the orchard, noticing changes in plants, or caring for living things—including the chickens—Sparks practiced responsibility and respect for nature.
Back in the studio and during Spark Play, learners continued to create, test, and refine their ideas, building confidence through trial and discovery.
As the session closes, the focus remains on the process—observation, collaboration, care, and curiosity. Through these experiences, Sparks are developing habits that will support their journey of learning and life.
