They Get It.

If I had joined the conversation too early, I don’t think I would have witnessed this small but insightful exchange that I just overheard in the backseat of my vehicle during carpool:

Child 1 (younger child, with a frustrated tone): “Why don’t the guides ever answer a question?!!!”

Child 2 (older child, pauses): “Ascent is a place we go to learn, not to just have people tell us the answers or what to think...”

Pause. Silence.

Child 1: “Yeah, I guess they are getting us ready for when we are grown ups and don’t have people to ask all our questions to.”

My Lesson: Listen more. Fight the urge to interject!
